I have made this recipe a lot of times, it is one of my favorites. I found it from Mihaela's blog, "Goodies from my kitchen" and I kept repeating and adapting it to the basic recipe.

We prepared the dough with the bread machine, we must have a firm dough that we leave to rise for 30 minutes. After that I modeled a larger round loaf or 2 smaller loaves, I opted for the second option.

I cut the bread into squares, made one with flour and the other with sunflower seeds and left them to rise for another 20 minutes. Bake at 210 degrees for 30-35 minutes, at the end I let it brown for another 3 minutes at maximum temperature.

It came out super fluffy and with a special flavor from the seeds, I warmly recommend this recipe.

Method of preparation

As an overview, I tell you that this bread consists of 3 parts: 2 rows of petals and the middle.
Knead the dough well, well… ..here I cheated, I put the good mixer to do the job in my place, for about 20 minutes… ..the poor man did not resist, did not complain and, because he did not a scandal, I stopped it every 5 minutes to rest its engine… After kneading it, leave the dough to rise for an hour then cut it into 2 equal parts.

The first is divided into 5 equal balls (and represents the outer row of petals), and the second we divide it into 6, of which one slightly larger than the other 5. The 5 represent the inner row of petals, and the 6th , the middle.

I repeat, the first 5 balls in the first half represent 5 sheets that we spread with the façade and overlap them, and that form the outside of the bread, ie the first row of petals.
The other 5 balls represent another 5 sheets, a little smaller, still superimposed, which we place one on top of the other and which form the second row of petals, the one from the inside to the outside.
The 6th ball, which is bigger than the 5, represents the heart of the bread, and we place it just at the end.
And now let me explain the procedure.
For the outer row of petals, we spread the 5 sheets in a round shape and overlap them in a large, flat, borderless tray, on which we put baking paper.
So, we put the first sheet, we grease it with melted butter or margarine, then we put over it the 2nd sheet, we grease it, and so on, until the 5th, which we make a little bigger than the other 4, as to cover them when we spread it over them. The 5th sheet does not grease.

In that collage of pictures where I inserted different stages of preparation, the 9th photo shows the 5 overlapping sheets, with the last one bigger than the other 4. With a well-sharpened knife we ​​make 4 cuts starting from 1.2 cm from the edge leaves (picture 10). Then, carefully, we take each petal and turn it outwards (picture 11). This is the first row of petals, the one outside.


How to make SUNFLOWER SEED BUTTER (video recipe)

This recipe is very simple and successful, no matter how strange it may sound to make butter from sunflower seeds. Peanut butter lovers will surely be attracted by this proposal, and will find that homemade sunflower seed butter does not even compare to products bought in stores.

• 2-3 teaspoons of honey
• 2-3 tablespoons of oil

Buy raw, salt-free sunflower kernels from health food stores or from the market. It is also usually found in Lidl.

To make the butter taste more attractive, brown the core in the oven a little. Spread it in a single layer in a tray lined with baking paper. Sprinkle a little salt over it and mix well. Let it brown for about 20 minutes, or until the core turns golden. Or you can fry the core in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly.

After it has cooled, put the core in the blender and beat for 3 minutes, then turn off, and with a spoon or a spatula, put the core down from the walls of the pot.

The butter is made in stages. With a little patience, you will see that the delicate sunflower seeds will gradually turn into a creamy paste, only good for spreading on bread.

Sunflower Seed Butter

In the first phase, the core will acquire a crumbly texture, then it will gradually begin to bind, like a halva. Now add the oil, and beat for at least 10 minutes continuously at medium or high speed. You will notice that the seeds will heat up, and will begin to release their natural oils, soon becoming a creamy mass. After the butter looks well bound, stop and add the honey, and beat for another 5 minutes continuously. Taste it and see if you want it sweeter.

Sunflower Seed Butter

You can enrich this butter with many flavors or additional ingredients: cocoa, cinnamon, vanilla essence, etc. You can serve it on bread, as a cereal sauce (oatmeal), or as a salad dressing.

Butter seeds and nuts tend to rancid, so it is recommended to keep the butter in the refrigerator in a closed jar with a lid.
