Because today is the Ascension and on this day the Saint ascended to heaven three years ago and the soul of my half I tried in his memory to do something that he liked very much and these balls were his favorites. Of course there were others, but I did not have the necessary condition. They turned out very good even if I made them through tears ... don't take me into account ...
- 700 gr simple biscuits
- 1 jar of pitted cherries
- 200 gr sugar
- 1 packet of butter
- 200 gr household chocolate
- 1 tablespoon cocoa
- 2 vanilla sugar
- 1 packet of coconut (200 gr)
Preparation time: less than 90 minutes
RECIPE PREPARATION Dessert biscuit balls with cherries and coconut:
The biscuits are passed through the robot or crumbled with the facalet, then rubbed well with melted butter, a tablespoon of cocoa, melted household chocolate and pitted cherries. The sugar is caramelized and quenched with 200 ml of water, let it melt well and then let it cool as much as we can mix it with the biscuits and the rest of the ingredients. We mix everything well, the composition must be neither too hard nor too soft, so that we can shape balls, which we then roll through the coconut.
Let it cool for a few hours.
We can also add walnuts or raisins.
Preparation Biscuit balls with cherries:
In a saucepan put the broken chocolate pieces, whipped cream, butter and 100 ml milk. Put on low heat and boil without boiling until the chocolate melts. Set aside and leave to cool.
We grind the biscuits on the robot, leaving bigger pieces, we don't make breadcrumbs. Pour into a large bowl. Add cocoa and powdered sugar and mix. Pour the mixture with the chocolate and mix well. If necessary, add the rest of the milk. We must have a firm, slightly sticky composition that can be shaped. Flavor to taste with orange essence.

We take about 1 tablespoon of this composition, depending on how big you want to make the balls. We model so that we can put a seedless cherry in the middle, we tighten the edges and we continue to shape it between the palms until we obtain a perfect ball. We continue to shape biscuit balls with cherries until we finish the biscuit composition, then we roll them in ground walnuts and coconut flakes.

We prepared half of the quantity with cherries from compote and the other half with cherries from cherries. The ones with cherries in compote we chose to roll them with coconut and the ones with cherries in cherries through ground walnuts.

I think everyone had such sweets on the menu, with the general exception of the way they were dressed. You could find the balls powdered only with powdered sugar, in cocoa powder, dressed in ground walnut, and those who were in the western area sometimes enjoyed coconut and, very rarely, dressed in chocolate (actually my mother dressed them in a glaze of cocoa, the same from the rolled cake).
Times have changed a lot, we have access to a lot of goodies, some of which are more tempting, but I don't think this recipe will go on a list of memories, we put it in a closet and forget about it.
Now that the memories have overwhelmed me, I tell you with my hand on my heart that I miss the friends from the block with whom I played & # 8220hidden & # 8221, & # 8220flowers, girls and boys & # 8221, & # 8220elastic & # 8221, we switch between we the magazines with & # 8220Rahan & # 8221 and & # 8220Pif & # 8221, we made pranks to those who stood in line for sugar, oil and flour. We would gather at the one who happens to have a video and watch a movie dozens of times, until we learn the lines from the outside. Then there were the & # 8220baieramurile & # 8221, our teenage parties with music played to the max when parents left for the province, when they listened to the Beatles, Elvis Presley, AC / DC, Abba or Boney & # 8217M on tape (here's something son mine has never seen!). Sometimes it's good to be nostalgic, but I try to get over all this now, to come back to the present, when my son just tasted biscuit balls with cherries and he asked me: & # 8220but how long have you not done this thing to me & # 8221? I made them before, only it was too small, he doesn't remember.
And then I realized that it would be a shame not to indulge more often with these biscuit balls, because they are delicious and easy to prepare. In addition, if we make them for children we will use cherries from compote, we keep only for adults those from cherries.
Here's how easy they are to prepare, in a recipe slightly modified by me:
25 g black cocoa powder
100 g chocolate with cherries
Melt the two types of chocolate in a bain-marie. During this time we put in a robot / mixer the biscuits, ground walnuts, powdered sugar and cocoa and mix until we obtain a composition with a homogeneous texture, if it can be fine. Add the rum, melted and cooled butter, then add 2 tablespoons of melted chocolate and mix by hand until you get a homogeneous paste, which is missing and can be easily shaped. If the biscuits are very dry, it may be necessary to add a little more milk.
We take about 1 teaspoon of this composition, shape it so that we can put a cherry in the middle, then cover it and continue to shape it between the palms until we get a perfect, homogeneous ball. We continue to shape balls filled with cherries until we finish the cherries and biscuit paste, then we roll them in melted chocolate, taking care to be evenly covered.
We leave them on a grill until the chocolate hardens, then we can move them on a plate.
We keep them in the fridge for a few days.
